This is coolbert:
Russian troops the Ukraine Conflict, apparently rear-echelon soldiers, with field-expedient measure to protect their soft-skin vehicles.
"Soft-skinned vehicle: In military terminology, a soft-skinned vehicle is any vehicle that is not armored, such as a truck, motorcycle, Jeep or car."
Original tweet from OSINTechnical. Mar 06, 2022. OSINT = Open Source Intelligence.
"Russian troops are using wooden logs to armor their convoy trucks"
"Desperate times call for interesting measures."
"The tweet featured images of Russian KAMAZ trucks showcasing several logs strategically placed on the front bumpers of the vehicles to protect them against incoming attacks. Carved on the logs are the distinctive 'V' markings that have come to be associated with Russian vehicles in the sector."
Logs as stacked in the front of those soft-skinned vehicles obviously to prevent damage from small-arms fire. Engine compartment with radiator at the least damaged to the point where vehicle becomes inoperable.
Ukrainian snipers taking out these vehicles at long-range with scoped-rifles using armor-piercing incendiary rounds [AP-I] a strong possibility. Pesky Ukrainians waging "war of the flea". War of the thousand-cuts!
P.S. Need I mention that those stack logs offer little if any protection from any of the pea-shooter shoulder-fired anti-tank weapons of the American LAW variety?
coolbert.
