Bruin.

This is coolbert:

Sadly this American soldier while participating in a military field exercise Alaska has perished.

From CNN by Paradise Afshar May 12, 2022.

"Soldier killed and another injured in bear attack in Alaska"

BROWN BEAR ATTACK AMERICAN SOLDIERS IN THE ALASKAN WILDERNESS A DEFINITE POSSIBILITY.

"Staff Sgt. Seth Plant died Tuesday following a bear attack during training at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson in Alaska."

"(CNN) A soldier in Alaska died Tuesday after being attacked by a bear who wildlife officials say may have been trying to protect her cubs."

"After he was mauled, Staff Sgt. Seth Michael Plant was transported to the Army base hospital where he was pronounced dead, Army Alaska said in a news release Thursday."

"Another soldier was also injured during the attack, the release said, and was treated for minor injuries and released."

BEARS [bruins] in Alaska a definite danger to a soldier while in the field. Especially a female if she has cubs as it seems to have been in this case. Also a male just come out of hibernation is ravenously hungry and will go after any other creature that represents a potential meal. Troops operating in the Alaskan wilderness normally carry a shotgun firing slugs to ward off bear attack.

ACTUALLY the greatest danger from animals to the soldier in the wild is the mosquito. Carries disease which it will transmit to you when it bites. Half of all humans that have ever lived [about 100 billion] have died from malaria or complications from malaria.

One of the primary missions of the Canadian Rangers of the far north is predator control. Watching for polar bears stalking a Canadian military man while in the field. Will kill and eat the soldier.
