Botashev.

This is coolbert:

Add one more Russian senior military commander to the list of those General officers lost in combat Ukraine. Questions truly need to be answered about this.

Retired Russian Air Force Major General Kanamat Botashev. Retired. Sixty-three years old!

The story by BRENDAN COLE ON 5/24/22 courtesy Newsweek.

"Who is Kanamat Botashev? Russia's Highest Ranking Airforce Commander Killed"

"A top Russian air force commander [retired] has reportedly been killed in the Ukraine war, delivering another blow to Vladimir Putin's invasion."

"Information about the reported shooting down of retired Russian Air Force Major General Kanamat Botashev was confirmed to BBC Russian by three of his former subordinates."

"On Sunday, May 22, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine said a Russian Sukhoi (SU-25) attack aircraft [Frogfoot] was shot down over the Luhansk region and that the pilot did not have time to eject."

[....]

"How the 63-year-old retired general ended up piloting a Su-25 in Ukraine is unknown, although former subordinates told the BBC that he 'simply could not stay away.'"

A military man, even as an aviator of much experience in high-performance combat warplanes should not have been allowed to fly the Frogfoot into combat? Kanamat had been checked-out as they say, and considered to be combat worthy? I would assume that is the normal practice for the Russian as for just about any other reputable air force?
