From that previous blog entry:
"The group [Khorasan Group] is named after the historical region Khorasan that comprised parts of present-day Iran, Afghanistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan in prehistoric and early Islamic times"
Khwarezm that area in blue.
Khorasan in ancient times the home of a very sophisticated and cultured Islamic society, gone with the wind so they say, obliterated in battle with the forces of Genghis Khan.
"In the 12th century, the Khwarezmid Empire was founded and, in the early 13th century, ruled over all of Persia under the Shah ʿAlāʾ al-Dīn Muhammad II (1200–1220) . . . from 1218 to 1220 Genghis Khan and his Mongols launched the invasion of Central Asia and destroyed the Kara-Khitan Khanate and the Khwarezmid Empire, including the splendid capital of the latter, Gurganj."
Mohammad Shah having massacred a delegation of Mongol diplomats and ISSUED A DIRECT CHALLENGE TO GENGHIS KHAN HIMSELF, INVITING RETALION WHICH WAS SWIFT AND FORTHCOMING!
Mohammad put to flight and rout, his empire invaded, his armies destroyed, the occupants of his cities put to the sword, the land itself laid waste, destruction and death on an apocalyptic scale, almost unprecedented. Such was the wrath of Genghis!!
