Hill USA.

This is coolbert:

Further with extracts from the archives of the New York Times [and thanks to same], those newspaper headlines describing events, the secession of the various states prior to the bombardment of Fort Sumter.

"AFFAIRS OF THE NATION: Probable Character of the Incoming Administration; IMPORTANT FROM TEXAS: REFUSAL OF CAPT. HILL TO SURRENDER FORT BROWN (3/2/1861)"

"IMPORTANT FROM TEXAS."

"REFUSAL OF CAPT. HILL TO SURRENDER FORT BROWN."

New-Orleans, Friday, March 1.

"Advices received from Galveston stat that Capt. Hill [USA] in reply to the demands of the Texas Commissioners, refused to evacuate Fort Brown or surrender to them the Government property in his charge."

"It is stated hat Capt. Hill has ordered reinforcements from Ringgold's Barracks to retake the Government property at Brazos Island. A collision between the Government [USA] and State troops [Texas] is  imminent."
