Spike.

This is coolbert:

Flash message thanks to the tip from Freeper that original story from the South China Morning Post.

Sixteen million years half-life. WHO is counting?

Once again the topic of unexplained radiation spike as detected. A type of radiation as associated with atomic detonations!!

"What caused radiation spike in north west China: North Korea, Europe or something else?"

"Levels of iodine-129 in capital of Shaanxi province peaked two days after hydrogen bomb test 2,000km away" [that North Korean atomic test on 3 September. The iodine-129 peak event occurring two days later in China.]

"Radiation levels in a Chinese city nearly 2,000 km [1,250 miles] from a North Korean nuclear test site spiked following Pyongyang’s latest and most powerful nuclear weapons test in September, according to Chinese scientists".

"However, the spike in iodine-129 levels Xian was probably not related to the detonation of a 100-kiloton hydrogen bomb in a tunnel at the Punggye-ri nuclear test site on September 3 and was more likely to have originated in Europe"

See previous blog entries germane to recent unexplained "spike" of radiation the source of which is of an unknown origin:

Abu Alaa’.

This is coolbert:

Iconoclasm!

"Iconoclasm - - Iconoclasm is the social belief in the importance of the destruction of usually religious icons and other images or monuments, most frequently for religious or political reasons "

The destruction by the Taliban of the famous Buddhist statues in Afghan I heard of. This decapitation of this particular statue I had not hear of.

"The 11th Century poet who pissed off al-Qaeda"

"In the spring of 2013, fighters from Jabhat al-Nusra, the Syrian offshoot of al Qaeda, beheaded the statue of an 11th Century poet."

"pissed off - - 1. angry or annoyed."

"Almost 1,000 years after his death, what was so dangerous about this writer that warranted his symbolic decapitation?"

   "You’ve had your way a long, long time,
    You kings and tyrants,
    And still you work injustice hour by hour.
    What ails you that do not tread a path of glory?
    A man may take the field, although he love the bower."

    "But some hope a divine leader with prophetic voice
    Will rise amid the gazing silent ranks.
    An idle thought! There’s none to lead but reason,
    To point the morning and the evening ways."

"This iconoclastic moment was more than the destruction of a piece of modern Syrian cultural heritage, it was the collision of two historical trajectories that represent the nexus of clashing ideologies of the modern Arab world. The scene was reminiscent of an inverted version of the French revolution, where religious effigies lost their heads to the mobs of Robespierre. The stage was set: on one side, a modern ideology reacting against liberalism and hearkening back to an imagined Golden Age; on the other, a medieval thinker looking forward towards a liberal modernity."

THE FRENCH REVOLUTIONARY WANTING TO GO FROM THE OLD TO THE NEW. THE SALAFIST WANTING TO GO FROM THE NEW TO THE OLD!

Nederlanders.

This is coolbert:

From the latest edition of WWII magazine and the article by Andrew McGregor.

"IN THE UNIFORM OF THE ENEMY"

Dutch collaboration during the Second World War. Collaboration with the NAZI occupier. Dutch collaboration more extensive than that of any other NAZI occupied nation. That topic I might suspect in Holland today still a subject not suitable for discussion?

"Why side with an adversary? There are clues - - and more questions - - in the experiences of Dutch recruits to the Waffen-SS."

Two to four times as many Dutch fought with the Germans as participated in the Dutch Resistance during the Second World War.

Again, more Dutch collaborated with the German than ANY OTHER occupied nation during WW2!!

 Dutch collaboration, those participants their reasons to include but not strictly limited to:

* A strong National socialist party already existed in Holland.

* Christian, democratic, capitalist Europe perceived as archaic and moribund. NAZI ideology offering a viable alternative.

* Destroying Russian Bolshevism.

* Adventure.

* Avoid legal problems or forced labor.

* Three meals per day.

* Release from prison.

With regard to eating "three meals a day" consider the Dutch Famine of 1944/45. Eating "three meals a day" not a minor consideration. A consideration often of life or death!!

NBC NK.

This is coolbert:

NBC = Nuclear, Biological, Chemical.

Sometimes also called CBR or ABC. Chemical, Biological, Radiological or Atomic, Biological, Chemical.

Thanks here also to the Internet web site Strategy Page for the article. Very informative and devoted readers to the blog need to read it all.

Also as is germane to that previous blog entry

"NUCLEAR, BIOLOGICAL AND CHEMICAL WEAPONS"

"January 1, 2018: A North Korean soldier who recently defected to South Korea was found to have Anthrax anti-bodies in his blood. This came at about the same time as rumors of North Korea planning to equip its long range ballistic missiles with warheads containing Anthrax."

A DISCUSSION OF ANTHRAX AS A WEAPON OF MASS DESTRUCTION! AND THE CAPACITY OF THE NORTH KOREAN TO CONDUCT BIOLOGICAL WARFARE.

THE AMERICAN MILITARY IF AN WHEN KIM USES WEAPONS OF MASS DESTRUCTION IN A CONFLICT WITH THE U.S/ROK UNABLE TO RESPOND IN KIND WITH EITHER CHEMICALS OR BIOLOGICAL. ATOMIC WEAPONS ARE THE ONLY SUITABLE RECOURSE.

Everything you always wanted to know about anthrax as a weapon of war but just did not want to know!

JAK LI.

This is coolbert:

From the Pakistan Defence Internet web site and within context of a previous blog entry, consider this item.

Most of all, pay special attention to that number of positions open on a yearly basis and the number of applicants!!

"In Jammu and Kashmir, Young Men Queue up to Join the Army"

"The Jammu and Kashmir Light Infantry (JAK LI) is an infantry regiment of the Indian Army. The regimental center is in Srinagar's Airport Complex at Avantipur with a winter setup near Jammu. Its regimental insignia consists of a pair of crossed rifles. The regiment mostly consists of volunteers from the state of Jammu and Kashmir. 50% of the regiment's troops are Muslims while the rest represent other ethnic groups from the state."

. . . .

"Earlier this year, 20,000 aspirants turned up to fill 55 vacancies of Jammu and Kashmir Light Infantry Battalion of Territorial Army in Kashmir. Last month, 34,000 candidates registered themselves for a ten-day army recruitment rally for Jammu region."

FROM AMONG THAT POOL OF APPLICANTS IT MUST BE THAT ONLY THOSE YOUNG MEN OF THE HIGHEST POSSIBLE STANDARD ACCEPTED AND ALLOWED TO ENLIST.

Territorial Army as I understand the usage of that word "territorial" to mean trained reservists.

Biak.

This is coolbert:

Australia beware!

The Russians are coming!

From ABC and the article by Andrew Greene thanks to the tip from Freeper:

"Australian Defence Force on heightened alert during Russian military exercise in Indonesia"

"Defence personnel in Darwin were operating at 'increased readiness' earlier this month as Russian strategic bombers conducted navigation exercises close to Australia, flying out of an Indonesian military base. The ABC can reveal RAAF Base Darwin was placed on a 'short period' of heightened alert, while over 100 Russian personnel and several aircraft were stationed at the Biak Airbase in Indonesia's eastern Papua province."

These evidently are Tu-95 Bear long-range bomber aircraft on a surveillance and intelligence gathering mission?

THIS IS ALL IN RESPONSE TO THE AMERICAN PRESENCE IN DARWIN?

Chinese naval surveillance of Australia first. Then the admonishments and threats of Kim. NOW the Russians.

Patka.

This is coolbert:

I have asked myself the question and so have others. What is that strange looking helmet the Indian Army troops wear?

NOW we have the answer. The patka.

"Patka Helmet-Really An Advanced Combat Helmet"

1. The patka was designed with reasons in mind to include:

* "Patka was made for the SIKH soldiers in the Indian Army (because they had to wear turban alongside and to account for this PATKA was made)". Turban underneath the Patka.

* "Patkas were actually been developed for Sikh soldiers, as they wear their ‘Pagdi’ ( Turban ) always , so initiation was to make such a platform which can be fitted easily inside Turban."

* "The 'strange' head gear that you see in the picture is called 'Patka'. It was evolved keeping in mind the tactical mobility and ballistic requirement of forces engaged in counter-insurgency operations."

* "These patkas are good for counter-terrorism ops but in war they cannot be used, especially if enemy is armed with artillery."

2. As to the protection offered by the patka:

"In terms of protection, the front section of the Patka provides protection against 7.62 x 39mm AK-47 round which is the standard weapon used by militants."

"From all the sides [??] it is highly bullet proof, it can withstand [from the front] a AK-47 from a distance of 25 meters, 9 mm pistol from a distance of 10 meters and so on. [can stop a 9mm round from the side]"

PATKA NOT SUFFICIENT TO PROTEST AGAINST ARTILLERY AND MORTAR INDIRECT FIRE WITH THE POSSIBILITY OF AN AIR-BURST ROUND DETONATING OVERHEAD!

Indian Army troops on actual combat patrol in Kashmir. These are not necessarily Sikhs. The patka is worn by all [?] troops operating in Jammu and Kashmir, most versatile in counter-insurgency operations where indirect weapons fire [with air-burst] is very rare.

Yet one more image of an Indian Army soldier wearing the patka! "Patka helmets are indigenous concept of India to provide a light but effective protection to head. They are those tiny round shaped things usually can be seen with Indian armed personal in J and K [Jammu and Kashmir]. As they are smaller and do not look like typical helmets some time they are called as Head Protective Gear."

NOW you know the rest of the story and as a devoted reader to the blog are so much the better for it too!
