Seems my intuition was right! See item # 1 my previous blog entry.
Shooting incident a Russian military training camp with several dozen casualties, dead and wounded both done by Russian citizens but recruits from an ethnic minority. Not Great Russians as they are referred to.
"Great Russian: n. - A Russian. Used formerly in distinguishing ethnic Russians from other constituent peoples of the Soviet Union or the Russian Empire."
From the MailOnline ^ | 16 October 2022 | David Averre and Will Stewart the tip from Freeper.
"The gunmen who shot dead 11 Russian soldiers and wounded 15 at a training camp near the Ukrainian border had their Islamic faith 'insulted' by their commander, as authorities opened a criminal probe into the incident."
"RIA said the gunmen, referred to as 'terrorists', were shot dead and Russia's defense ministry said they were from a former Soviet republic, without elaborating."
"Independent news ASTRA spoke to one man wounded who alleged the shooters were Muslims from the Central Asian republic of Tajikistan and turned on the group when the commander described Allah as a coward."
According to the Soviet era defector Suvorov brawls of an ethnic nature between troops of the Red Army did occur. Were not common but not so uncommon either. Fighting sometimes involving thousand of troops at a time.
