Bottom.

This is coolbert:

Submarine back in service. Submarine back out of service.

From a variety of sources through Sharkhunters. Thanks to STEINER LIED, Matthias Gebauer and "Der Spiegel".

"LOVE THAT SEA BOTTOM"

German submarine U-36 first patrol after spending a considerable time in shipyard for repair now damaged again and out of commission? So it seems

"It seems that U-36 was at sea her first deployment since spending almost a year in the shipyards for major repairs.  She didn’t get far and as she was departing the Norwegian port of Haakonsvern this past Tuesday, she ran aground, causing serious damage to the boat . . . This set-back with U-36 will most likely put her back in the yards again, reducing their [German navy] number of operational boats to two."

Normally a submarine captain for such an action losing his command and permanently placed on desk duty for the remainder of his career

Admiral Doenitz would hardly be pleased.
