Gaza means "strong". Referring to battlements and fortifications.

The various lectures [many of them] courtesy Professor Henry Abramson most impressive. I recommend highly without qualification or reservation. Animosity and conflict between the Gazan and the Hebrews at least a three-thousand year old ongoing affair.
