This is coolbert:
"The Alpinist Unit . . . is a special mountain infantry reserve unit of the Israel Defense Forces, under the command of the Israeli Northern Command . . . "
"The Alpinists are proficient in many aspects of cold-weather and mountain warfare, among them shooting and attacking while sliding on skis and custom-made Snowcats, and defensive tactics. The unit was established in 1983"
The Israeli military sure does possess a lot of elite special operation units. To include surprisingly so [?] an alpine unit. Trained in mountain and cold-weather warfare.
Alpinists the formation of which obviously a reaction to events that transpired on Mount Hermon the Yom Kippur/Ramadan War of 1973. The First Battle of Mount Hermon in particular. A debacle.
The Israeli vital listening post, observation and monitoring site Mount Hermon when attacked by Syrian soldiers in 1973. The comportment and battlefield behavior of the Israeli troops manning and defending their position much less than desirable.
SPECIAL troops trained for a SPECIAL mission and these are the Israeli Alpinists. A repetition of events that occurred in 1973 not permissible.
