Capture.

This is coolbert:

To war with zoo net?

Yet one more innovative and novel approach to combat the threat from the combat drone!

"Russian scientists create explosive net against drones"

 https://www.rbth.com | SCIENCE & TECH | DEC 14 2021 | IGOR ROZIN.

"It will be used with the latest ‘Derivation’ [anti-aircraft] artillery system to literally cut drones in half, as well as to catch them to gather intelligence."

DERIVATION the latest and greatest Russian anti-aircraft-artillery [AAA] system.

"Engineers at the Nuclear Center of the Rosatom corporation announced their new development in November 2021 - an “explosive” net that cuts drones in the air."

"At the moment, scientists are finishing the first prototypes of this device and are preparing it for the first tests."

"The projectile contains a casing with a set of throwing blocks arranged alongside the net. Each of these blocks contains explosives and metal weights connected by flexible binding cutting elements. After firing, these blocks explode in the air and stretch into a net that is able to cut through drones."

Enemy UAV to be countered by a large weighted net fired from the Derivation AAA that will fly through the air to actually envelope and "capture" INTACT the UAV. Sort of like subduing and capturing a wild beast in the jungle by throwing a net over it.

Like I said "innovative and novel".

Lack.

This coolbert:

“Of course, we do not agree with the American position [on cluster munitions deliveries to Ukraine], and we've mentioned it to the American officials. Meanwhile, what I think the alliance needs to be focusing on is really expanding the defense industrial capacity, because we're in this position right now because of the issue of lack of defense, industrial capacity. So that's something that we need to be working on in Canada but also within the alliance," - Melanie Joly.

"Canada: Cluster Bomb Deliveries to Ukraine Related to Lack of Industrial Defense Capacity"

From - Sputnik International | 11.07.2023.

"WASHINGTON (Sputnik) – The decision to supply Ukraine with cluster munitions is related to NATO’s lack of industrial defense capacity and the alliance's focus should be on expanding it, Canada’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Melanie Joly said on Tuesday."

Here it is in the nutshell. Those NATO nations lack that requisite industrial capacity to rearm as needed to stockpile their OWN weapons inventories for any possible contingencies to INCLUDE possible confrontation with the Russian military.

It is not that they DON'T have a manufacturing capacity but the fabrication facilities too scant in number and not being able to satisfy demand as needed in the here and now and tomorrow!

Building new factories and even merely increasing production from existing "industrial capacity" neither cheap or can be done quickly.

Gonna cost a lot of money and going to take some time.

Between the rock and the hard place.

Tsokov.

This is coolbert:

Yet one more Russian general officer bites the dust! Have we lost count or what? One-two-three many!

"Bite the dust" is an idiom that means to die, fail, or be defeated."

"Russian Lt. General Oleg Tsokov Killed in Ukraine—Reports"

From https://www.newsweek.com | the article by ISABEL VAN BRUGEN ON 7/11/23.

"Atop Russian general has been killed in the war in Ukraine, according to an advisor to the mayor of Mariupol."

KILLED BY A BRITISH STORM SHADOW CRUISE MISSILE DIRECT HIT?

"Lieutenant General Oleg Tsokov was reportedly killed near the Russian-controlled port city of Berdyansk in Ukraine's Zaporizhzhia region, Petr Andryushchenko wrote on his Telegram channel on Tuesday."

"Advisor to the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, Anton Gerashchenko, posted news of Tsokov's death on Twitter."

[....]

"Tsokov had been commander of the 144th Motorized Rifle Division since August 2022. He received the rank of lieutenant general earlier this year."

That phenomenon unexpected of Russian senior military commanders being killed-in-action startling? My own perspective as has been stated before is that high-ranking officers having to approach to close to the line-of-contact. Lower ranking officers and personnel skittish and recalcitrant at moving forward and accomplishing mission with vigor? Some "kick-in-the-butt" needed as incentive to perform tasks assigned according to norms and standards!

Treacherously.

This is coolbert:

Not good for the Russian? First Yevgeniyy and now Ivan. Senior Russian army commander VENTING in PUBLIC. General Ivan Popov. now dismissed!

"Ouster of Russian General ‘Spartacus’ Sparks Ruling Party Feud"

Story by Bloomberg seen at https://www.msn.com/en-us.

"(Bloomberg) -- A Russian general who accused army chiefs of 'treacherously' ousting him for criticizing troop losses in the war in Ukraine has sparked a political feud within President Vladimir Putin’s ruling party, the latest sign of tensions over the military following the mutiny by Wagner mercenaries."

Vlad Putin not mentioned by name. Only those in the highest echelon levels the Russian military.

"Major General Ivan Popov, whose call sign is 'Spartacus,' said in an audio message that he’d been removed as commander of Russia’s 58th army in Ukraine’s Zaporizhzhia region after he spoke to Defense Ministry chiefs 'at the highest level, extremely harshly' about shortcomings in combat operations."

"Popov told his 'gladiators' in the message that he’d emphasized 'the large-scale death and injury of our brothers from enemy artillery' because of an absence of countermeasures."

VOICING and SPEAKING your mind in public an obvious sign of great desperation! And within the context of an authoritarian regime most dangerous! Need I even say!

Mercy.

This is coolbert:

“There should be no mercy for the cowardly ones leaving their ranks or surrendering; rifle, machine-gun and cannon fire should be directed at surrendering soldiers, even if it requires ceasing fire on the enemy; we should act in the same way on those retreating or running away, and, if necessary, a mass shooting should be carried out… The weak-willed have no place among us and they must be eliminated.” - Alexei Brusilov.

Before there were NKVD blocking units The Great Patriotic War [WW2] and before there were Chechen blocking units the Ukraine Conflict there was Brusilov.

"The 3 most effective Russian military leaders of World War I"

From  https://www.rbth.com | HISTORY | JULY 28 2022 | BORIS EGOROV.

Honestly other than Brusilov I think the general historical consensus of the Russian high command during The Great War is that of senior military flag-grade officers rather inept and incompetent. Chosen for political reasons and loyalty to the Czar more than battlefield ability.

That contention that the Russian during the Great War had commanders in addition to Brusilov of marked ability a surprise? Devoted readers to the blog will have to read the entire article and decide for themselves.

Brusilov generally given high marks and most famous for that most [?] successful Russian campaign of the Great War.

Read further from the wiki that entry devoted to Brusilov. Alexei perhaps surprisingly so in the aftermath of the war: "he sided with the Bolsheviks in the Russian Civil War and aided in the early organization of the Red Army until retiring in 1924."

Investigation.

This is coolbert:

Total casualty count Russian forces the Ukraine Conflict. Not including those militia of the Luhansk People's Republic and the Donetsk People's Republic.

"New estimate of Russian dead and wounded after 15 months of war in Ukraine"

From "Hotair" ^ | 07/10/2023 | John Sexton the tip from Freeper.

"A joint investigation carried out by two media organizations and a professor at a German university has offered what may be the most accurate estimate yet of the number of Russians killed and injured in the first 15 months of the war in Ukraine."

"Analyzing existing reports about published obituaries, mortality data from the Federal State Statistics Service, and extensive records from the National Probate Registry, we estimate that between 40,000 and 55,000 Russian men under the age of 50 died fighting in Ukraine by May 27, 2023. When factoring in the number of men wounded so seriously that they did not return to military service, Russia’s total casualty count rises to at least 125,000 soldiers, based on our calculations. (This figure does not include missing or captured soldiers or Ukrainian nationals fighting with Russian proxy forces based in Donetsk and Luhansk.)"

Total casualties as estimated about 125,000 Russians of which roughly 47,000 have perished? Within context of modern military medicine that ratio of wounded to dead poor! Accuracy of this study and methodology used as in almost all cases subject to scrutiny.

Given that figure of 47,000 killed-in-action [KIA] hardly is the Russian army at the breaking point and running the risk of "crumbling" at least if you use the very general rule-of-thumb as can be inferred from the Great War.

Resources.

This is coolbert:

Ukrainian standard curve for military uniform sizing just not working when taking women combatants into account?

"Female soldiers in Ukraine are wearing 'huge' uniforms and suffering yeast infections due to a lack of women's resources on the frontlines: report"

From "Business Insider" ^ | Jul 10, 2023 | Erin Snodgrass the tip from Freeper.

"Tens of thousands of women across Ukraine have bravely taken to the battlefield to fight alongside their male counterparts amid Russia's ongoing war — but many of these women are defending their country in uniforms several sizes too large, according to a new Daily Beast report."

"There are approximately 60,000 women serving in Ukraine's Armed Forces, the outlet reported this week, citing several female soldiers who described a widespread lack of women's resources in the military that has exacerbated the dangers already faced by Ukraine's military volunteers."

"Women described wearing ill-fitting uniforms and body armor, stumbling in 'huge' men's shoes, suffering a shortage of sanitary pads, and developing health problems due to an inability to properly relieve themselves on the battlefield."

Historically the two biggest killers in war and feet and water. The latter either drinking bad water or not having enough to drink. The former having bad feet, unable to keep up during a march, falling out, losing contact with your unit and being set upon by enemy marauders. Eternal warfare the Ukraine Conflict.
