NORMALLY I HESITATE TO MAKE BLOG ENTRIES THAT HAVE A POLITICAL EDGE BUT IN THIS CASE I MAKE A DEFINITE EXCEPTION.

This is "woke" culture at work. Officials from Washington State having an antipathy toward the military of the USA in all forms. USA military seen by "woke" as being pernicious  and noxious. Cooperation to be eschewed to the greatest degree possible.

Rolls Royce

Normally I think of the various desert campaigns as waged by Lawrence of Arabia during the Great War [WW1] as being strictly a camel and horse affair. But I am wrong.

Unsuited for the type of combat as was the case on the Western Front during the Great War but seeing active service in other theaters of the war.

Most significantly [?] finding utility during the Arab Revolt by those insurrection units commanded by T.E Lawrence!

Widely used during the years between the World Wars performing yeoman service, recognition however scant.

Assaye. Combatants of the British East India Company versus the Maratha army. Wellington commanding.

From my perspective battles of this type, armies of the various Indian raja, sultan, nawab, emir and nizam at a distinct disadvantage when faced by British troops equipped with the most modern [at the time] black powder weaponry to include massed cannon. A "turkey shoot" as it is defined.

"In military situations, a turkey shoot occurs when a group or team catch the enemy off-guard or outgunned to the point of being unfair"

BUT THIS IS JUST NO SO!

That Maratha army had modern black powder firearms apparently in abundance to include cannon! At Assaye the forces of the Maratha also commanded by an European officer.

"Distinct disadvantage" of the Maratha not really such!!

IM-SHORAD to be employed against enemy attack helicopters, drones, and low-flying close-air support fixed-wing aircraft. Incorporation of the Hellfire missiles seems to be strange? Hellfire as far as I know not an air defense weapon. Hellfire normally used in the air-ground attack mode.

UAV [Unmanned aerial vehicle] drone beware. Especially those of the kamikaze variety!

Stryker combat vehicle equipped with MEHEL destroys the enemy drone with the laser and can also jam the communication  between the drone and the remote-operator. I would imagine that 7.62 mm general purpose machine gun can also engage targets. Stryker vehicle too possessing organic radar. The total package it seems, an autonomous system with lethality.
