This is coolbert:
Thanks to the BBC and You Tube a less appreciated aspect of the famous British aviator and test pilot of the Second World War.
Eric Brown. "Winkle".
Brown a fluent German speaker post-war [WW2] participating in the interrogation of high-ranking captured and accused Nazi war criminals.
Brown his background well suited to debrief and interrogate high-ranking German Nazi functionaries. Including Hermann Goering no less: 4. A fluent German speaker who interrogated Himmler and Goering. In 1939, Brown was an exchange student at Schule Schloss Salem and became fluent in the German language . . . He would later become involved in the interrogation of Nazi war criminals – including Heinrich Himmler, Hermann Goering . . . Josef Kramer and Irma Griese."
Winkle mentions that Dr. Ernst Heinkel who he interrogated was Jewish. Nowhere on the Internet can I find any corroboration that Heinkel was Jewish. Anyone have a handle on this?
"Dr. Ernst Heinkel . . . was a German aircraft designer, manufacturer . . . in the Third Reich, and member of the Nazi party. His company Heinkel Flugzeugwerke produced the Heinkel He 178, the world's first turbojet aircraft and jet plane, and the Heinkel He 176, the first rocket aircraft."
