Starvation.

This is coolbert:

From the Internet web site War is Boring and thanks to same.

"America Experimented on Conscientious Objectors During World War II"

"Researchers injected volunteers with diseases and starved them in the name of science"

Conscientious Objectors [CO's] during the Second World War contributing to the war effort by allowing [quite voluntarily] their bodies to be used for medical experimentation. And I emphasize quite voluntarily! Human guinea pigs and knowing all the while what was occurring to them.

"During that time the subjects participated in a 12-week control period where they consumed a balanced diet totaling 3,492 calories a day, a 24-week semi-starvation period during which they consumed 1,570 calories a day, and a 12-week restricted rehabilitation period during which they consumed an average of 2,449 calories per day."

Contrast with the previous image these two men victims of the Japanese during World War Two [WW2]. I might think these two persons rather older and having their life expectancy severely shortened as a result of their mistreatment.

Research of this type the goal of which was to: 1. Determine what actually occurs to the entire human body as afflicted by starvation of the extreme  sort. 2. Formulate remedies to rehabilitate a person suffering from extreme starvation [and it is not just feed them a lot of food].

Experimentation on human subjects OK if done in a voluntary manner and the participants fully aware of what is being done to them? This is ethically debated?
