Hardly do I remember such high-ranking military men gone so quickly being a cause for concern. Over thirty years ago so my mind is fuzzy regarding the matter?

My instantaneous thought was this was related in some manner to the Warsaw Pact and Soviet response to Proud Prophet and Able Archer. It what manner exactly however I cannot say.
