History now accounts for a smaller share of undergraduate degrees than at any time since 1950. Centers of learning = those most elite universities and colleges.

I highly recommend all devoted readers to the blog the entire article without qualification. The study of history and particularly the study of WAR in the historical context low-on-the-totem-pole of intellectual pursuits. And done so primarily for ideological and political considerations. 

A PROCESS THAT HAS BEEN ONGOING FOR AT LEAST FIFTY YEARS!! DISENCHANTMENT WITH AMERICAN INVOLVEMENT IN THE SECOND-INDO CHINA WAR UNDENIABLY AS THE CATALYST.
