Dilger the Younger.

Anton Dilger. Son of Hubert. Anton a natural born American citizen but his loyalties during the Great War with the Kaiser and Imperial Germany.

Dilger the Elder. MoH. Hubert Dilger.

The German national fighting for the Union cause during the American Civil War. Comporting himself with great courage and valor on the battlefield. Awarded the Medal of Honor!

"Hubert Anton Casimir Dilger . . . a German immigrant to the United States who became a decorated artillerist in the Union Army during the American Civil War. He was noted as one of the finest artillerists in the Army of the Potomac, winning the Medal of Honor [MoH] for his valiant work at the 1863 Battle of Chancellorsville."

Dilger NOT a Forty-Eighter and not an American citizen but a professional soldier well versed in his profession.

"Dilger was born in Engen in the Black Forest region in Germany and educated in the Karlsruhe Military Academy. He served as a lieutenant in the Grand Duke's Horse Artillery at military posts in Gottesau, Karlsruhe, and Rastatt. He developed several innovative theories on artillery tactics and drill. When news came of the outbreak of the American Civil War, Dilger received a leave of absence and sailed to the United States".

"Fought his guns until the enemy were upon him, then with one gun hauled in the road by hand he formed the rear guard and kept the enemy at bay by the rapidity of his fire and was the last man in the retreat." - - the MoH citation of Hubert Dilger.

Those foreign nationals awarded the MoH the number very small indeed. Just off the top of my head besides Dilger I can only think of one Canadian and one Filipino having been decorated in the same manner.

W47/W52.

Here with a less than sanguine appraisal of those "small" thermonuclear warheads so vital to the Polaris submarine-launched ballistic missile program. That phrase "less than sanguine" again!

A fear it would seem well justified the weapons WOULD NOT WORK!!

1. "Reliability controversy". W47 warhead.

"The history of the W47 warhead had a serious series of reliability problems with the warhead design. 300 of the EC-47 production prototype model were produced from April 1960 through June 1960, and were all promptly retired in June 1960 due to reliability concerns. Production of Y1 and Y2 models then proceeded in 1960 through 1964. A total of 1060 Y1 and Y2 models were produced, but they were found to have so many reliability problems that no more than 300 were ever in service at any given time. In 1966, 75% of the stockpiled Y2 warheads were thought to be defective and unusable. Repair programs continued for some time."

It should not be thought that the problems as associated with the W47 existed in a vacuum or were unique to the nuclear weapons program of the United States. Serious and real concern existed that these and other atomic weapons if and when actually used WOULD NOT WORK!!

"Another thermonuclear warhead controversial and determined as being a "dud" was the W52 as designed for the battlefield Sergeant missile"

2. "Reliability controversy". W52 warhead.

"Three models of the W52 were produced, the Mod 1, Mod 2, and Mod 3. A warhead test was performed in 1963, which failed, showing that the Mod 1 and Mod 2 versions of the W52 were essentially duds. The Mod 3 was subsequently redesigned to work properly."

Questions that might be properly asked include: A. The reliability of the entire American atomic arsenal during that period of the Cold War? B. The reliability of the current American atomic arsenal? C. The reliability of the Soviet atomic arsenal during that period of the Cold War and since that time? D. Did the Soviets ever have a knowledge of American nuclear warhead reliability issues?

Nuclear weapons reliability the current American atomic arsenal questionable?

1. "Arab sources: First Russian officers in Syria"

30 August.

"Russian army officers have arrived in Damascus and Jablah in the Latakia district, where they are building a new military base on the Mediterranean coast, Arab sources reported. They also claimed that Moscow had begun to supply Damascus for the first time with satellite imagery."

2. "Russia gearing up to be first world power to insert ground forces into Syria"

1 September.

"All of Russia?s steps to lay the groundwork for its ground forces to intervene in the Syrian civil war are being coordinated with the US and Iran. As their coordination tightens, so are the preparations for the first direct big-power military intervention in the Syrian war picking up speed. "Six soldiers including four Americans were injured on Thursday in two blasts in northeast Sinai caused by improvised explosive devices, the Pentagon said."

"The Multinational Force and Observer peacekeepers were evacuated 'by air to a medical facility where all are receiving treatment for non-life-threatening injuries'"

"The four Americans were struck by the second blast as they were en route to help the soldiers hurt in the first"

Additionally those peacekeepers hurt in the first blast according to the DEBKAfile Fijians:

"Gunmen shoot and injure four MFO troops in Sinai"

3 September.

"Unidentified gun opened fire on the Multinational Force at its northern Sinai base in Gora Thursday. Four Fijian troops were injured and flown to Soroka hospital in Beersheba. This entire area of northern Sinai is under constant attack by ISIS-affiliated local terrorists."

PJ Women.

"Air Force Moves to Open 7 Combat Jobs to Women"

Women as pararescue jumpers [PJ's]? Women? I am sure many are thinking the same.

"Air Force Secretary Deborah Lee James told reporters during a visit to Hawaii on Monday she plans to open up seven jobs for women to include pararescue [PJ] and tactical air control party."

. . . .

"Currently, only seven jobs in the Air Force are closed to women to include special tactics officer, pararescue [PJ], tactical air control party (TACP), combat rescue officer, combat control team, special operation weather officer and enlisted."

Acceptance into the program [PJ] requires a demonstrable degree of advanced physical aptitude as determined by a rather rigorous test. That test and what constitutes passing to include:

* 2x25 meters Underwater Swim: Pass or Fail
* Swim: 500 meters = 10:07 minutes and seconds.
* Run: 1.5 miles = 9:47 minutes and seconds.
* Pull ups: 10 (1 min)
* Sit-Ups: 54 (2 min)
* Push-Ups: 52 (2 min)

In all instances perfect push-ups, perfect pull-ups, perfect sit-ups. Also swim and demonstrate an ability to swim for a distance underwater.

For PJ ONLY those most dedicated and prepared individuals physically and mentally prepared need apply and this needs to be understood for all applicants from the get-go.. Perhaps Secretary James needs to spend a week observing the PJ in training?

"September 2, 2015:  On August 22nd UAE (United Arab Emirates) commandos In Yemen found and rescued a British citizen who had been held captive by Islamic terrorists for 18 months. This was one of the few times the UAE admitted publicly that it had a SOC (Special Operations Command) and commandos capable to finding and rescuing someone held captive by Islamic terrorists. The UAE has been particularly secretive about its special operations force."

Those Mamelukes from time of yore foreigners and "slaves" but with qualification. These men constituting the UAE special operations unit hired guns and not slaves as that word commonly, generally and ordinarily understood. "Mysterious" as of indeterminable nationality, perhaps Nepalese [Ghurkha], Fijian, British [SAS].
