This is coolbert:
NOT SO FAST BASHAR! Only the other day having been sworn in for another term, Basher confident his military can defeat those in opposition to him, NOW ISIL fighters moving against Syria and having some success.
"Reports: 100 killed in seizure of Syria gas field"
"BEIRUT (AP) — Islamic militants killed about 100 Syrian troops, guards and workers as they captures a gas field in central Syria following daylong clashes, activists said Friday.
The attack was the deadliest fighting so far between fighters of the Islamic State group and forces loyal to President Bashar Assad."
Bashar and his Alawite compatriots having a Shia orientation and considered heretics by the Sunni ISIL.
Rather than merely consolidating rule in those areas of Iraq now under ISIL control, the insurgents continue their advance.

Intercepted.
This is coolbert:
SBU the Ukrainian secret service. Intelligence organs what they are called.
1. "SBU intercepts phone conversations of separatists admitting downing a civilian plane"
"One phone call apparently was made at 4:40 p.m. Kyiv time, or 20 minutes after the plane crash, by Igor Bezler, who the SBU says is a Russian military intelligence officer and leading commander of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic. He reports to a person identified by Ukraine’s SBU as a colonel in the main intelligence department of the general headquarters of the armed forces of the Russian Federation Vasili Geranin regarding the shot down plane, which is about to be examined by the militants."
Main Intelligence Directorate of the General Staff = GRU [Russian]!
2. "The second intercepted conversation released by the Security Service of Ukraine was apparently between militants nicknamed 'Major' and 'Greek' immediately upon inspection of the crash site."
“'It’s 100 percent a passenger (civilian) aircraft,' Major is recorded as saying, as he admitted to seeing no weapons on site. 'Absolutely nothing. Civilian items, medicinal stuff, towels, toilet paper.'”

Brief.
This is coolbert:
Here begins the start of a series of short and terse blog entries regarding the now-enfolding Malaysian air disaster done in the manner of the FLASH format message:
"Malaysian Airline Crash"
"Malaysian Airline Crash"
"Members of the Senate Intelligence Committee spoke to reporters following a closed-door briefing on the Malaysia Airlines flight that went down in Ukraine near the border with Russia."
Closed-door and classified briefing of the intelligence committee. That perspective most important and moving with amazing and even surprising speed!!
ALMOST UNPRECEDENTED! NORMALLY THESE FOLKS MOVE WITH THE PROVERBIAL GLACIAL SLOWNESS. NOT THIS TIME.
Well, I did say this had the potentiality to be very big, didn't I?

MH17.
This is coolbert:
Everyone is following this developing story, even as we speak?
This does have the potentiality to be VERY BIG INDEED!!
Possible missile shoot-down of an international airliner!
1. "Malaysia airliner crashes in east Ukraine near Russia border"
"A Malaysian airliner with 295 people on board has crashed in Ukraine on a flight from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur, amid allegations it was shot down."
. . . .
"Flight MH17 had been due to enter Russian airspace when contact was lost."
THIS INCIDENT NOT EXISTING IN A VACUUM! Shoot-down of this nature almost becoming routine in that part of the world. The eastern part of the Ukraine where in adjoins Russia. Contested territory!
ONLY this very Monday a Ukraine military plane shot down!
2. "Ukraine military plane shot down as fighting rages"
"A Ukrainian military transport aircraft has been shot down in the east, amid fighting with pro-Russian separatist rebels, Ukrainian officials say."
"They say the An-26 plane was hit at an altitude of 6,500m (21,325ft)".
"The plane was targeted with 'a more powerful missile' than a shoulder-carried missile, 'probably fired' from Russia."
"The accusation that Russian forces shot down a Ukrainian transport plane is potentially a game changer. If Russia is indeed targeting Ukrainian aeroplanes from inside its territory"- - David Stern, BBC News
"Last month, the rebels shot down a Ukrainian Il-76 military transport plane as it was about to land at Luhansk airport, killing all 49 soldiers and crew on board."
Within that context also of the missing Malaysian airliner from four months ago, this event will definitely create more suspicions, deserved or otherwise.
Like I said, potentially very big!!

Article 88?
This is coolbert:
General Amos with his pronouncements has violated Article 88 of the UCMJ?
"Top Marine to Obama: Get in the Fight"
"It’s highly unusual for a high-ranking soldier, let alone a high-ranking Marine, to publicly question White House and Pentagon policy. Yet that’s exactly what four-star Gen. James Amos, Commandant of the Marine Corps, did yesterday in Washington."
"Speaking at the Brookings Institute Tuesday, Amos said the Obama administration paved the way for the emergence of the Islamic State of Syria and Iraq (ISIS) by completely withdrawing American troops in 2011."
“'I have a hard time believing that had we been there, and worked with the government, and worked with parliament, and worked with the minister of defense, the minister of interior, I don't think we'd be in the same shape we're in today,' Amos said."
James Amos is currently the serving Commandant of the Marine Corps. An active duty officer.
"Punitive Articles of the UCMJ"
"Article 88—Contempt toward officials"
“Any commissioned officer who uses contemptuous words against the President, the Vice President, Congress, the Secretary of Defense, the Secretary of a military department, the Secretary of Transportation, or the Governor or legislature of any State, Territory, Commonwealth, or possession in which he is on duty or present shall be punished as a court-martial may direct.”
Amos is contemptuous? This is a border-line case? I am not sure.

M198.
This is coolbert:
American howitzers M198 as captured by ISIL in significant numbers. Staggering almost is the number of firing tubes now intact and at the availability of the insurgents.
"ISIL captured 52 U.S.-made howitzers; artillery weapons cost 500K each"
"Sunni radicals with the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) may have captured as many as 52 U.S.-made M198 howitzers in their march across Iraq in June."
Ammunition stockpiles also captured by ISIL?
And ISIL very quickly will learn how to fire, maintain, aim, hit the target, etc. Employ effectively. This remains to be seen. More than anything it is the humiliation of having lost so much artillery to an adversary the basic armament of which is the AK, PKM and RPG.

NO-GO!
This is coolbert:
ISIL now entrenched, consolidation of gains established. Iraqi National Army efforts to retake lost territory for naught, ineffectual.
"Iraqi army retreats from Tikrit after assault stalls"
"Iraqi forces have withdrawn from the militant-held city of Tikrit after their new offensive met heavy resistance, in a blow to the government effort to push back Sunni insurgents controlling large parts of the country."
"The failure highlights the difficulties of Baghdad's struggle to recapture territory from the insurgents who seized Mosul, Tikrit and other cities last month in a rapid offensive which threatens to fragment Iraq on ethnic and sectarian lines."
Tikrit of course the home town of the late Saddam. Hard-core Sunni territory and a whole lot of hate I might expect directed at the central government in Baghdad.
It can be suggested too that Iraq for SOME TIME has been fragmenting and is fragmented along "ethnic and sectarian lines".
