I might correctly think that in modern American society only the Amish man having that essential proper combination of strength and endurance to match the ordinary Roman legionnaire. Amish man walking twice as far per day as the the average American man and twice as strong pound for pound.

* Military forces of any nation have at any given moment a dual role. To repel external aggression and for internal security when the need arises. Enemies external and internal.

* At least with regard to Oregon and Washington state the environment for deployment of troops is non-permissive? Federal help to suppress riots is eschewed?

* Those anarchist elements also involved in the riots their goal insurrection and their organization and techniques actually quite admirable. Capture of a autonomous zone such as CHOP and CHAZ high on their agenda. NO staying-power however. As of yet.

*National Guard and Federal troops if committed to suppress the riots had better hone their fighting skills in the manner of a Roman Legion prior to deployment this from my perspective.
