SVD I.

This is coolbert:

We have here an instance of back to the future?

"The Army just picked this new semi-automatic sniper rifle"

From that article by businessinsider.com.

"The Army has chosen a new semi-automatic sniper rifle, replacing the M110 which entered service in 2008."

"According to reports by the Army Times, the winning rifle was the Heckler and Koch G28. According to the the company's website, the G28 is a version of the HK 417 battle rifle - itself a variation of the AR-10 rifle."

NOT NECESSARILY TO BE UNDERSTOOD AS A SNIPER RIFLE. A RIFLE TO BE WIELDED ON THE BATTLEFIELD BY A DESIGNATED MARKSMAN, ONE SUCH SHOOTER IN EACH INFANTRY SQUAD. A TROOP ABLE TO SUSTAIN LONG-RANGE AND ACCURATE RIFLE FIRE ON THE ADVERSARY.

Concerning the AR-10:

"The AR-10 is a 7.62×51mm NATO battle rifle developed by Eugene Stoner in the late 1950s at ArmaLite,"

And to all this Eugene Stoner would say?

coolbert.
