This is coolbert:

Great signs and portents in the heaven! Japan style!

Apocalyptic events of a military nature often accompanied by celestial phenomenon awesome!

As it was in the days of the Satsuma Rebellion. That movie the "Last Samurai" loosely based on the occurrences of the period.

"The 2003 movie The Last Samurai, starring Tom Cruise and Ken Watanabe, is loosely based on the Satsuma Rebellion."

"Toward the end of the Satsuma Rebellion, an unfamiliar red star shone in the night sky, and rumors circulated that the star must be an incarnation of Saigo Takamori, who was leading the rebellion. One of the stories went that with the help of a telescope you could see Saigo himself within the star. The controversy culminated to the point that newspapers had to report that the star was simply Mars appearing close to Earth."

Japanese observers making the calculations the "unfamiliar red star" in response to the Rebellion and the defeat of the insurgents. It is not so much reality that counts as the perception of reality that matters more?

The plant Mars of course in the western tradition associated with war and bloodshed. Within the Chinese [Oriental] cultural domain Mars is symbolic of fire.

“The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, ” (Joel 2:31}
