Snouck & Aceh.

This is coolbert:

Snouck! Where are you? We need you!

Their numbers increase and multiply. Almost exponentially so. First Abu Bakr and Abu Sayyaf. Now those Muslims of the Aceh province, Indonesia, flock to the cause. Aceh that northernmost tip of the island of Sumatra.

"Aceh, the Operative Base for the Islamic Caliphate in Asia, Through Recruitment and Indoctrination"

"Within fundamentalist Islam there is not race, nationality, borders, nation-states, etc. Just one ummah.

That area of Aceh always restive, markedly so, even under Dutch rule!

"Fringes of the jihadist movement already active in 16 provinces in the Indonesian archipelago. Thousands of people have sworn allegiance to the fundamentalist leader Abu Bakr Al-Baghdadi. Most are veterans of the jihad with extensive experience in Afghanistan or, on the domestic front of the Moluccas."

Aceh from the time of Dutch colonial rule a Sultanate that Islamic population never totally subdued by the foreign invader. NOT even totally subservient to the present day Indonesian central government.

The people of Aceh with a long history of jihad!

The Aceh War, also known as the Dutch War or the Infidel War (1873–1914),[1] was an armed military conflict between the Sultanate of Aceh and the Netherlands . . . The war was part of a series of conflicts in the late 19th century that consolidated Dutch rule over modern-day Indonesia.

A WAR THAT LAST ON AND OFF FOR A PERIOD OF FORTY YEARS AND ONLY DUTCH VICTORY UNDER THE MOST DIFFICULT AND PRECARIOUS OF CIRCUMSTANCES!!

Final and ultimate Dutch suppression of the revolt thanks to the efforts of the Islamic scholar Snouck Hurgronje. His knowledge of Islamic custom and folk ways greatly enabling a Dutch war-making policy that was successful.

"he took an active role in the final part (1898–1905) of the Aceh War (1873–1913). He used his knowledge of Islamic culture to devise strategies which significantly helped crush the resistance of the Aceh inhabitants and impose Dutch colonial rule on them, ending a 40 year war with varying casualty estimates of between 50,000 and 100,000 inhabitants dead and about a million wounded."

Snouck without question a most remarkable man. A convert to and a scholar of Islam, EVEN MARRIED TO A JAVANESE PRINCESS, HIS LOYALTY TO THE NETHERLANDS AND THE COLONIAL ADMINISTRATION OF THE DUTCH EAST INDIES ALL THE WHILE NEVER IN DOUBT.
