This is coolbert:
From peshmerga sources the American airstrikes against ISIL combatants effective. HOW SO we must hold our breath at this point.
"US Airstrikes Done With Peshmerga Coordination"
"recent US airstrikes in the Makhmur and Mosul regions against Islamic State (IS) Militants had inflicted huge loses on the extremist group."
“'A lot of IS militants have been killed and many of their wounded have been captured by Peshmerga forces,'”
Among those peshmerga combat units evidently are embedded American advisers that are knowledgeable and conversant in the procedures for close-air-support. Do not only hope that it is so, it MUST BE SO!
From the U.S. Marine manual on close-air-support that most important factor to prevent:
"CLOSE AIR SUPPORT" "MCWP 3-23.1"
"FRATRICIDE
Fratricide, or casualties to friendly forces caused by friendly fire, is an undesirable and avoidable circumstance in warfare . . . avoid fratricide while maximizing the effectiveness of CAS."
DON'T KILL YOUR OWN PEOPLE!!
