Leopard.

This is coolbert:

The German Leopard 2 main-battle tank [MBT] in scome quarters and for a long time seen as SUPERIOR to the American counter-part. This is proving to be just not so?

As seen at Freeper:

"Germany’s Leopard tanks prove vulnerable in Islamic State fight"

"KAISERSLAUTERN, Germany — The reputation of Germany’s vaunted Leopard 2 tank, which forms the mainstay of NATO’s armored forces, has taken a pounding in battles with Islamic State militants in Syria. At least 10 of the 60-ton main battle tanks have been destroyed during a Turkish attempt to recapture the strategically important northern town of al-Bab, located just 15 miles south of the Turkish border, media reports have said."

THAT TANK HAS NEVER BEEN [AND PROBABLY WILL NEVER] DESIGNED AND BUILT TO BE TOTALLY INVULNERABLE. ALL ARMOR IS A COMPROMISE OF MOBILITY, FIREPOWER AND PROTECTION. ENGINEERING COMPROMISES ABOUND AND INVARIABLY LEAVE WEAKNESS HOWEVER MINOR!!

See recent blog entries germane to the Turkish incursion into Syria and the fighting in and around al-Bab:

Where does ISIL get get the heavy weapons necessary to knock out a MBT? This story makes no sense, the whole Islamic State narrative is suspect, who could they exist without the support of a weapons-producing industrial nation?
