Once more some over-the-horizon [OTH] radar news. This is astonishing. Such a sudden burst and flurry of activity regarding what is normally an arcane and esoteric subject.
From MARCONI and MARCO POLO through Harry:
"Russian defense ministry sources have just said that Russia will set up a powerful OTH (Over-The-Horizon) radar in Crimea to reinforce the Black Sea Fleet. The radar is called 'Podsolnuch' (meaning 'sun flower' in Russian). It is sea-based."
"This radar will detect surface and aerial targets 450 kilometers [280 miles] away, which are not within the line of sight. It can simultaneously detect, track and identify up to 300 surface, and up to 100 aerial, targets in an automatic mode."
"The radar will be 'looking to the Bosporus'."
SEA-BASED AND PORTABLE THEREFORE! CAPABILITY AWESOME AND AIMED AT THAT POINT WHERE AMERICAN OR OTHER FOREIGN WARSHIPS ENTER THE BLACK SEA!
coolbert.
