Repatriation.

This is coolbert:

Not only bodies of the dead. Prisoners of war too!

"How Ukraine brings back bodies of dead soldiers in tense exchange in Russian territory"

"Under Geneva Conventions, bodies are exchanged only after the war. But in the Russia-Ukraine conflict, it started after the first six months"

From https://www.telegraph.co.uk | ISOBEL KOSHIW | IN SUMY, UKRAINE | 31 March 2024.

"The convoy snaked through Ukraine’s north-eastern Sumy region on a bitter February morning."

"A police car led the way, followed by a unit of forensic officials and a refrigerated van containing the corpses of dozens of Russian soldiers."

"The delegation was travelling into Russian territory for one of the only functioning level[s] of diplomacy between Kyiv and Moscow: the exchange of dead bodies from either side."

Once again, repatriation of dead bodies with dignity and some degree of humanity rather unusual in modern warfare. Especially when hostilities still continuing.

See previous blog entries the return of captured POW both sides another going aspect of the Ukraine Conflict:
