Brigands.

This is coolbert:

More thievery the Ukraine Conflict. Massive amounts of grain allegedly seized by the Russians.

Ramifications of war on the international scale quite often unexpected causing problems for which amelioration is next to nothing. Disruptions occurring now critical grain exports to the world gone presumably for some time to come and beyond grain now.

COSTS AND DWINDLING SUPPLIES BOTH!

From RFE/RL and thanks to same.

"Analysts foresee Ukraine's grain output declining by more than half year-on-year in 2022."

"Russian invading forces have stolen 'several hundred thousand tons' of grain in territory they hold, Ukraine’s deputy agriculture minister said on April 30."

“'Today, there are confirmed facts that several hundred thousand tons of grain in total were taken out of the Zaporizhzhya, Kherson, Donetsk, and Luhansk regions,' Taras Vysotskiy told Ukrainian TV.

[....]

"Ukraine is one of the world’s major grain producers and the Russian invasion has curtailed exports, pushing up world grain prices and raising concerns about severe grain shortages in importing countries."

UKRAINIAN GRAIN EXPORTS IN THE SHORTFALL AND MORE THAN LIKELY IN THE LONG TERM GOING TO BE NEXT TO NIL.

In certain countries [such as Egypt] expect upheaval of a nature that leads to extreme societal instability other nations following suit much to the detriment of worldwide community.

Thanks to Freeper the original story as seen at Food & Wine ^ | May 02, 2022 | Jelisa Castrodale.

"Ukraine typically exports about half of the world's sunflower oil supply. The war in Ukraine has entered its third month, and the global supply chain has increasingly been affected by Russia's invasion of its eastern European neighbor. One of the more measurable consequences is both the increasing costs and dwindling supplies of sunflower oil"

Sunflower oil! Even that! Going to be a mad scramble [already is a mad scramble?] for all sorts of agricultural products and hoarding.

Indeed, the sunflower can be seen and is being used as a symbol of Ukrainian resistance to Russian invasion.

Bert says: Consider too that the Chinese have now half the stored grain in the world. Prepared well in advance for the long run. As if they KNEW something was going to happen of a major nature.
