Monumental.

This is coolbert:

Paladin in action. A mission the concept of which was never envisioned when Paladin first hit the drawing board. Missile intercept. NOW a done deal.

Bullet hitting a bullet almost literally so and thanks to Fox News.

1. "Massive breakthrough: 155 mm howitzer artillery [Paladin] destroys incoming cruise missile"

"It made history by shooting down a fast-moving maneuvering cruise missile"

FAST-MOVING AND MANEUVERABLE. NOT SPECIFIED WHAT TYPE OF AMERICAN CRUISE MISSILE.

Presumably this involves some sort of net-centric targeting. A whole host of sensors providing fire-control information to the firing unit.

 2. "Army developing 'high-rate-of-fire' breakthrough 1,000-mile range cannon"

"The long-range cannon could be a possibility by 2023"

Think not merely distance. Think also accuracy and lethality. Think also net-centric targeting.

MISSILES EXPENSIVE, ARTILLERY ROUNDS MUCH LESS SO.

See previous blog entry the long-range cannon concept:
