"Canada is not quite as far ahead on defence spending as NATO predicted last year, according to the latest annual report compiled by NATO’s secretary general."

NOT even as far ahead. Less than what is EXPECTED and AGREED upon.

"The report, released Thursday in Brussels by NATO Sec.-Gen. Jens Stoltenberg, shows Canada spent 1.36 per cent of its gross domestic product on the military and new defence hardware in 2021."

As was agreed upon the amount of spending on defense almost a decade ago STILL not met and perhaps will not be met in the foreseeable future.

DEFENSE SPENDING MANDATED ALL NATO MEMBER NATIONS A MINIMUM OF 2 % OF THEIR GDP PER YEAR! PLEDGED AND WAS AGREED WAS PLEDGED!

All of a sudden there exists this terrible sense of urgency to spend more and do so fast. The Ukraine Conflict is the catalyst.
