Scrap!

This is coolbert:

Still more extracts with my commentary WW2 headlines from:

"THE NEW YORK TIMES COMPLETE WORLD WAR II The Coverage of the Entire Conflict" Headlines: "COVERAGE from the BATTLE FIELD to the HOME FRONT"

"CEMETERY STEEL DIGS GRAVE FOR THE AXIS"

"Thousand tons of Enclosures And Urns Salvaged for Scrap"

22 November 1942.

"A thousand tons of iron and steel urns, plot enclosures and other graveyard accessories have been salvaged by seventy cemeteries in the metropolitan area [NYC] for conversion into implements to deal death the Axis"

That one thousand tons of scrap metal process into weaponry, the numbers of which hardly insignificant::

"The 1,000 tons of metal already started toward the steel mills will furnish enough scrap for 200 3-inch anti-aircraft guns or 40,000 machine guns of the .50 caliber."

AND AS TO THE QUALITY OF THE METAL AS SMELTED AND RECOVERED? THE USEFULNESS WAS QUESTIONABLE? NOT OF THE BEST QUALITY? THIS I DO NOT KNOW!
