TROOPS IN THE MODERN ERA DEMONSTRATING THEIR METTLE, STILL SHOWING THEY HAVE WHAT IT TAKES TOO.

"The Forced March to Talavera de la Reina" [1985]

LOAD CAREFULLY MEASURED THE DISTANCE EQUAL TO THAT TRAVELED BY THE LIGHT BRIGADE. A TREK HOWEVER ACCOMPLISHED IN FOUR DAYS RATHER THAN ONE!

As it was in 1809 so was it so in 1985. Temperatures in the midst of summer extreme, no respite for the participants. That Light Brigade troop suffering under similar conditions duly noted.

"A difficulty not encountered by the Light Brigade were modern asphalt road surfaces that retained the heat of the previous day throughout the night. The heat encountered in 1985 was the hottest for a century at 42 deg C. [107 F.]. All knew that the last day was going to be very tough as there would be forced marching for most of the day in that heat."
