Canadian military recruiting woes worse than thought? Situation much more dire!  Not recognized or even mentioned other than in hushed tones by those in the know?

“'Instead of being at 70,000 people, the Canadian Forces are operating probably somewhere at about 45,000 people — and out of that, there are a significant percentage of them who are not operationally deployable or capable,'” Rick Hillier said.

Canadian military their strength only about 2/3 of what is authorized. And of that number "a significant percentage of them" not at mission standards?

WHAT PERCENTAGE OF THE MISSION CAN BE ACCOMPLISHED WHAT PERCENTAGE OF THE TIME!

2. "Canadian Navy offers ‘no strings attached’ program amid recruitment woes"

"Under the new program launched Friday, Canadian citizens and permanent residents can join the navy full-time on a year-long contract and then leave if they wish to after that."

Probably if you are hesitant in the first place whether navy duty is suitable for you the best is just to stay away.
