Flyspeck.

This is coolbert:

As was Iwo Jima in World Two so is Snake Island in 2022?

Little flyspeck island the Black Sea having great [?] strategic importance. Control of to be contested to the last man and such?

Island now ABANDONED by the Russian occupier.

"Snake Island: Why Russia couldn't hold on to strategic Black Sea outcrop"

By Yaroslav Lukov & Paul Kirby |  BBC News | Published 6/30/22.

"This tiny, rocky outcrop in the north-west of the Black Sea was seized by Russia on the first day of its invasion of Ukraine, and it has played an outsized role in the war ever since."

"After more than four months of repeated Ukrainian bombardment, Russian forces have abandoned Snake or Zmiinyi Island, as it is known in Ukraine."

"Russia says it has withdrawn its garrison as a 'gesture of goodwill' to prove it was not obstructing grain exports, but Ukraine dismissed that claim, as Moscow continued to shell its [Ukrainian?] grain stores."

SHIPMENTS OF UKRAINIAN GRAIN BY BLACK SEA PORTS [PRIMARILY ODESSA] THREATENED BY RUSSIAN OCCUPATION OF SNAKE ISLAND? SHIPMENTS OF UKRAINIAN GRAIN FROM THE ROMANIAN PORT OF CONSTANTA ALSO IN PERIL IN CASE OF A WIDENING WAR OR BLOCKADE.

Don't consider the Russian withdrawal from Snake Island as strictly a "goodwill" gesture. Attempt to assuage the international community too will be less than adequate.

It is over such "flyspeck" itty-bitty parcels of land as seen as having great STRATEGIC VALUE that battles with consequences are often fought in a no-holds-barred fashion.
