This is coolbert:
9 May memorial ceremony gone bad for the Russian.
"Protesters attack Russian ambassador with paint in Poland"
From the Internet web site "War is Boring" and thanks to same.
"Warsaw — Demonstrators in Warsaw threw red paint at the Russian ambassador, preventing him from placing flowers at a cemetery for Soviet soldiers in Poland on Monday."
"When Russian ambassador Sergey Andrejev arrived at the Soviet Military Cemetery in Warsaw with his delegation, a number of Ukrainian and Polish protesters greeted him with shouts of “murderer” and “fascist”, according to news agency PAP."
"A red liquid was then thrown at Andrejev, the report said, causing the ambassador and his delegation to return to their car."
"May 9 is a holiday [memorial day more accurately] in Russia marking the anniversary of the Soviet victory over Nazi Germany in World War II. The Soviet cemetery in Warsaw was constructed some years after the end of the war and the remains of over 20,000 soldiers who died between 1944 and 1945 are buried there."
Devoted readers to the blog and those perusing only in a casual manner be assured that Bert is not happy with this. Regardless of the Ukraine Conflict and extreme ire directed at the Russian such actions are uncalled for and counter-productive. Desecrations of war memorials or attacking persons gathered at the resting place of the dead soldiers NOT a good thing.
THE VERY PERSON OF AN AMBASSADOR ALSO INVIOLATE. EVEN IN TIMES OF WAR. GENGHIS KHAN HIMSELF KNEW THIS AND OBSERVED SUCH PROTOCOL FASTIDIOUSLY.
