This is coolbert:
Gone but not forgotten? But not so gone?
Nighthawk F-117 to the rescue Syria? From the Russian controlled [?] media outlet Sputnik.
"Decommissioned F-117 Nighthawks Were Used in Syria, Iraq in 2017 – Report"
"The once famous F-117 stealth attack jets were decommissioned several years after one was shot down over Yugoslavia in March 1999 by a Soviet-made S-125 missile defense system and after the F-22 took over some of the F-117's roles, when precision strikes were deemed essential for a mission."
"Four of the now decommissioned attack jets F-117 Nighthawk [brought back into service and] were deployed for operations in the Middle East in 2017 due to an 'operational need' that emerged"
OPERATIONAL NEED THE DROPPING OF SMALL DIAMETER BOMB [SDB] AS DESCRIBED IN THE SPUTNIK ARTICLE.
SDB effective within the context of irregular warfare the desire to limit deaths to civilians and avoid as much collateral damage as possible. It maybe the F-22 is unable to carry SDB internally? Nighthawk filled the void? F-117 carries payload internally so it appears.
coolbert.
