This is coolbert:
From "The Reader's Companion to Military History" and the article by M.R.D. Foot the topic of which is RESISTANCE of a populace to a foreign occupying military power or a legally established government corrupt and despotic!
The archetype of a successful wartime resistance the French Resistance or the Soviet Partisan movement during the Second World War.
"It [a resistance] may seek to achieve its objectives through either the use of nonviolent resistance . . . or the use of force . . . In many cases . . . a resistance movement may employ both violent and non-violent methods"
Resistance generally conceded as most effective when combined with conventional military operations.
According to Foot:
"Resisters can usefully carry out four main tasks"
Four main tasks: [not strictly limited to but primarily so]
1. Provide intelligence.
2. Sabotage.
3. Escape networks.
4. Maintain morale and hope.
