This is coolbert:
Here comes the man in blue!!
"A member of the armed services on the deck of HMS Vigilant [SSBN] at HM Naval Base Clyde, also known as Faslane "
43 Commando!!
Dedicated ground force assets in the Royal Navy [RN] their mission to guard the RN nuclear weapons assets. The Trident missile firing submarines.
Thanks for the image to Danny Lawson/PA.
"43 Commando Fleet Protection Group Royal Marines"
"The 43 Commando Fleet Protection Group Royal Marines (43 Cdo FP Gp RM), formerly Comacchio Company Royal Marines (1980–1983), Comacchio Group Royal Marines (1983–2001) and Fleet Protection Group Royal Marines (2001–2012), is a 550-man unit of the Royal Marines responsible for guarding the United Kingdom's Naval nuclear weapons"
NOT hardly a sailor with a rifle standing guard over a submarine. A well-trained and ready-to-go combat troop that will give a good account of himself under any circumstances.
During a time of crisis and in those few hours BEFORE overt hostilities begin those naval special-purpose units of the Russian [Soviets before that] conducting what is called "pink terror" missions. Destroy in situ nuclear assets by any means necessary. Nuclear submarines with an atomic weapons potential being an obvious target. Submarines while in harbor and at dock requiring a special guard force such as the FP RM!!
Think pink the antidote for which is the FP RM!!
