The Kurds move south!
First Kobani. Then Tel Abyad. Now Ain Issa.
Further battlefield victories for the YPG Kurdish militia. Further towns as liberated from the forces of ISIL.
Raqqa described as the "de facto" capital of ISIL and only thirty miles [fifty kilometers] from Ain Issa. Akcakale across the border into Turkey.
BUT NOT EVERYONE IS SO HAPPY!
From a variety of sources.
1. "Syrian Kurds victory over ISIL could stir up problems"
2. "Syria's Kurdish forces retake town from ISIL"
3. "Syria: Jubilant scenes as YPG Kurdish fighters pincer Isis inside Tel Abyad"
YPG THE FIGHTING ARM OF THE KURDISH PKK COMMUNIST PARTY. IN THIS PARTICULAR INSTANCE AMERICANS AND COMMUNISTS IN LEAGUE AND TOTAL AGREEMENT WITH ONE ANOTHER!!
To what extent YPG ground units receiving close-air-support [CAS] from American warplanes if any this is not mentioned or made clear. At Kobani there was widespread and continuous CAS that was decisive.
Those not pleased with events even with liberation those Syrian Arabic speakers not Kurdish. Uncertainty distressing as you might imagine. That factionalism of the Syrian Civil War not an easy subject to deal with!
coolbert.
The YPG is the fighting arm of the PYD, not the PKK. The PKK is designated an international terrorist organisation, the PYD not so.
ReplyDeleteThe PKK is a turkish organisation which aims autonomy within Turkey. The PYD is a syrian organisation which aims for autonomy within Syria. There are links of ideology but there are no straight organisational lines between the two of them.
