This is coolbert:
Surprisingly so, we have instances of German World War Two weaponry being put to good use by those Syrian rebels as opposed to the dictator Assad. Thanks to YouTube in all cases.
Blasts from the past indeed!!
1. "German World War II Era Wehrmacht Howitzer Used By Syrian Rebels On The Battlefield In Idlib"
"Blast from the past. Video footage surfaced showing Syrian rebels using a German World War II - Era Wehrmacht Howitzer on the battlefield in Idlib. The howitzer appears to be a 10.5 cm leFH 18, a 105 mm light howitzer that entered service with Nazi Germany's armed forces in 1935. The Syrian Army was known to operate limited numbers of the 10,5 cm leFH 18M howitzer, as well as the 7,5cm PaK 40 anti-tank gun. It is likely that the howitzer shown was captured from a Syrian Army base or museum."
2. "Syrian Civil War - German World War 2 Era STG 44 Rifle Used By Syrian Rebels In Firefight"
Video footage resurfaced showing Syrian rebels using the German Made STG 44 (Sturmgewehr 44) or also called MP 44 in fighting and firefights on the battlefield in Syria.
3. "5,000 StG44's Captured By Syrian Rebels In The City Of Aleppo"
5,000 StG44's Captured By Syrian Rebels In The City Of Aleppo
In August 2012, the Syrian Al-Tawhid Brigade posted a video clip on their YouTube channel showing a cache of Sturmgewehrs in their possession, which they claim to have captured amongst 5,000 rifles and various ammunition.
NOT only individual weapons but apparently an entire arsenal captured intact. The StG themselves, ammunition, the total package.
That StG 44 generally thought to be the first assault weapon as term generally, commonly, and ordinarily understood. Pistol grip stock, selective fire [semi-automatic or full automatic], high capacity magazine, firing an intermediate round.
coolbert.
