This is coolbert:
"Chicago Flashback"
"THE CIVIL WAR 150 YEARS LATER"
Conclusion!
"The Tribune is commemorating the War Between the States by reprinting portions of news coverage from significant battles and events. This the final installment in the series."
Thanks in all instances to Stephan Benzkofer of the Tribune.
Good Friday, April 14, 1865!
"Killing stunned a nation"
That assassination of Abraham Lincoln occurring on that day as designated to commemorate the crucifixion of JESUS.
From the Chicago Tribune the banner headlines as they were one-hundred-fifty years ago and as reported 15 April:
"POSTSCRIPT."
"TERRIBLE NEWS"
"President Lincoln Assassinated at Fords's Theater."
"A REBEL DESPERADO SHOOTS HIM THROUGH THE HEAD AND ESCAPED."
"Secretary Seward and Major Fred Seward Stabbed by Another Desperado."
"THEIR WOUNDS ARE PRONOUNCED NOT FATAL."
"Full Details of the Terrible. Affair."
"UNDOUBTED PLAN TO MURDER SECRETARY STANTON."
"Very latest - - The President is Dying."
A providential message was being sent and received, even the most hardened cynic and skeptic aware and having to give pause and thought to the assassination of Lincoln? This does seem to be the case!
