This is coolbert:
As seen the Chicago Tribune from this last Sunday, the banner headlines as were the case one-hundred-fifty years ago.
That conflict known variously as the American Civil War, the War between the States, the War of Northern Aggression, the Rebellion of the Slaveholder finally after almost four years of continuous warfare coming to a climatic end.
"CHICAGO FLASHBACK"
"THE CIVIL WAR ENDS"
Thanks in all cases to Stephan Benzkofer.
"By spring 1865, the outcome of the bloody Civil War was no longer in doubt, and the Tribune claimed the end of the rebellion was nigh. But exactly when that would come seemed frustratingly distant."
At least until April of 1865!!
April 5, 1865.
"NEWS BY TELEGRAPH."
