This is coolbert:
Rescue of hostages and captives as held by jihad groups in the last month not all have gone according to plan. Understand that these special operations type missions only normally have about a 50 % success rate under the best of circumstances!
1. "Joint American and Yemeni Hostage Rescue Mission Saves Eight"
"In the early morning hours on Tuesday November 25, 2014 a team of commandos from the Navy’s SEAL Team 6 – they and their Army brothers in Delta have been training for many years now – and the Yemeni counter-terrorism soldiers undertook a daring nighttime hostage rescue in the Yemen’s eastern region of Hadhramaut."
Those rescued and released from captivity to include: rescued eight hostages – "six Yemeni, one Saudi, and one Ethiopian." AN AMERICAN HOSTAGE BELIEVED TO BE PRESENT NOT FOUND DURING THIS OPERATION!
2. "Navy Seals got within 100 yards of Yemen compound - before a dog bark alerted al-Qaeda captors"
"A
British-born U.S. photojournalist and a South African aid worker held
hostage in Yemen by al Qaeda militants have been 'murdered' in a failed
rescue attempt."
. . . .
The
33-year-old was reportedly shot by his captors as Navy SEAL Team six,
made up of around 40 men, carried out a dramatic rescue bid in the Wadi
Abdan region of the southern Shabwa province late on Friday night. It is
the second attempted extraction by special forces in as many months.
"Another
hostage, South African aid worker Pierre Korkie, was also killed during
the operation - a day before he was due to be released"
3. "Raqqa: US Special Forces Carried Out Failed Rescue Missions to Save Jordanian Pilot"
"US Special Forces reportedly carried out a failed rescue mission in Raqqa to save the captured Jordanian pilot held prisoner by Islamic State (ISIS) militants. The operation is believed to have taken place on 1 January."
These various rescue mission to repatriate American personnel reminding me of BRIGHT LIGHT from that era of the Vietnam War.
Special operations troops attempting to rescue and repatriate American personnel as held captive by the NVA/VC. NOT ON ONE OCCASION WAS EVEN A SOLITARY AMERICAN RELEASED FROM CAPTIVITY! MISSIONS HOWEVER NOT TOTALLY UNSUCCESSFUL, HUNDREDS OF FRIENDLY SOUTH VIETNAMESE SOLDIERS RESCUED AND REPATRIATED.
That 50 % success/failure rate hard to improve upon. That type of operation always fraught with great risk.
coolbert.
