This is coolbert:
Thanks to CCTV and their coverage for the tip to this item:
This date especially important in modern Chinese history.
7/7, 77! July 7, 1937, seventy-seven years ago only today.
The Marco Polo bridge incident. Referred to by the Chinese as the Lugouqiao (Lugou Bridge) Incident.
Manufactured provocation on the part of the Japanese, events as leading to the Second Sino-Japanese war.
A aggressive regional war with the Japanese using poison gas almost in an indiscriminate and casual manner.
Think also the Battle of Wuhan, Taizherzhwang, the saturation bombing of Chinese cities, atrocity.
Chinese Nationalist and communist factions normally at odds with one another uniting in solidarity as a response to the aggression of Japan.
The massive loss of Chinese life, military and civilian both even prodigious by Chinese standards.
AND the Chinese have not forgotten!!
Even with that degree of tension existing between China and Japan at this very exact moment, 7/7, 77 almost as if it was yesterday.
Prime Minister Abe of Japan especially seen by the Chinese as a menacing figure for a variety of reason. The grandfather of Abe often described as THE ALBERT SPEER OF JAPAN!!
For all that means.
"All men are brothers, like the seas throughout the world; So why do winds and waves clash so fiercely everywhere?"
coolbert.
