This is coolbert:
Movie review.
The movie being reviewed is "1911".
Starring Jackie Chan in a serious role.
"Does all his own stunts!"
I was very surprised at the acting ability of Chan. Chan normally does the goofy and somewhat comedic martial arts movies.
This movie however very well done and I recommend.
"A historical drama based on the founding of the Republic of China when nationalist forces led by Sun Yat-sen overthrew the Qing Dynasty."
Deals with those events of the Chinese Revolution [1911].
That over two thousand years of Imperial rule ended, China having become a republic.
Chan an army general for the insurgent republican forces, only one scene of martial arts, no stunts. So much so was this a serious role for Chan I actually had a hard time thinking and believing that was the man himself.
Also several very brief scenes featuring the American Homer Lea. Organizer and devotee to the cause of the Chinese Republic. Homer an aspiring military man who achieved the rank of general officer in that republican army.
Too the amount of combat as associated the Chinese Revolution of 1911 somewhat more than what I had expected and thought to be so. Lots of use of the Mauser "broomhandle" auto-loading pistol as was popular at the time.
Those on the Imperial throne not going out without a fight, decadent and corrupt their cause in the final not prevailing.
