Kilotons!

This is coolbert:

My calculations wrong! And I freely admit so!

500 pounds = 225 kilograms. 250 pounds = 113 kilograms.

Consider the ongoing aerial bombardment on Gaza. Israeli Air Force [IAF] currently wreaking havoc on an unprecedented scale?

"Israel says 6,000 bombs dropped on Gaza as war with Hamas nears a week"

"Air strikes pound Gaza for a sixth day as death toll and fears of a humanitarian disaster in the besieged Palestinian enclave mount."

My instantaneous thought that dropping 6,000 bombs in six days was using a lot ordnance. Without question.

Some quick and dirty calculations came up with the answer that all that bang-stuff dropped on Gaza was more or less the same as the Beirut blast of several years ago. About equal to a detonation of a ONE KILOTON tactical nuclear explosion. Albeit the Beirut disaster confined to a single area while the Gaza bombardment over a much more widespread area.

My calculations ERRONEOUSLY based on a mix of 500 pound and 250 pound bombs.

Only today the IAF announcing that their tonnage of bombs dropped on Gaza about equal to 4,000 tons of explosive. About the same as a FOUR-KILOTON atomic weapon! No small potatoes!

A WHOLE BUNCH OF BIG BOOMS BY ANY MEASUREMENT! AND MORE TO FOLLOW I AM SURE.

coolbert.
