Muse.

This is coolbert:

"Sing, muse, of the wrath of Air Force Global Strike Command. Draw memory back to earlier days. Heed not the siren call of impersonal, unstoried euphemisms, and instead bring forth antique names worthy of Promethean fire. Sing, missile muse, of ancient pagan gods and American heroes."

What's in a name?

From the Internet web site "War on the Rocks" and the article by TOM KARAKO JUNE 7, 2021.

"SING, MISSILE MUSE, OF GODS AND HEROES: AMERICA’S MOST FEARSOME WEAPONS NEED BETTER NAMES"

"U.S. Air Force Global Strike Command may soon christen a new intercontinental ballistic missile. It is worth asking why. After all, 'Ground Based Strategic Deterrent' [GBSD] — the current description of the program expected to deliver a new intercontinental ballistic missile by 2029 — seems logical enough.

"Yea verily, the United States could do worse than an intercontinental ballistic missile named Peacekeeper II or Minuteman IV. It could also do better."

Can do better and have done better! Sentinel! Newest American ICBM.

Also think historically with regard to weapon systems naming conventions:

* American military helicopter U.S. Army.

* American Polaris submarine force.

* British Tribal-class WW2 destroyer warships.

[....]

Additionally with regard to naming a weapon system after American heroes such as Davy Crockett:

"The M-28 or M-29 Davy Crockett Weapon System was a tactical nuclear recoilless smoothbore gun for firing the M388 nuclear projectile, armed with the W54 nuclear warhead, that was deployed by the United States during the Cold War."

Antique names worthy of Promethean fire indeed!
