Green & W.

This is coolbert:

Never heard of either of these before.

Ireland a declared neutral during the Second World War. Ireland hardly taking sides.

Ireland not interested in participating but WAR interested in Ireland participating.

The Irish Free State [Republic] of course not including Northern Ireland [British].

Thank here to the wiki:

1. Plan W. British. WW2.

"Plan W, during World War II, was a plan of joint military operations between the governments of Ireland and the United Kingdom devised between 1940 and 1942, to be executed in the event of an invasion of Ireland by Nazi Germany."

BRITISH TO INVADE THE IRISH FREE STATE [REPUBLIC] BUT ONLY IF THE GERMANS INVADED FIRST.

2. Operation Green. German. WW2.

"Operation Green (German: Unternehmen Grün) often also referred to as Case Green (Fall Grün) or Plan Green (Plan Grün), was a full-scale operations plan for a Nazi German invasion of Ireland in support of Operation Sea Lion (Unternehmen Seelöwe), the invasion of the United Kingdom, during World War II."

GERMAN PLANNING AND INTENTIONS TO INVADE THE IRISH FREE STATE ONLY IN SUPPORT OF SEA LION [INVASION OF ENGLAND].

About 50,000 Irish volunteers serving in the British military during WW2. Not counting those 5,000 deserters from the Irish Army.

Irish strict neutrality sometimes in a very tepid manner violated. Neutrality in the main adhered to.
