CC II.

This is coolbert:

Continuing and concluding with the contribution of the British to the war in the Pacific against Japan. NOT the Commonwealth Corps and NOT CBI [Chinese-Burma-India] but in this case the concerted and determined effort of the English to liberate Malaya from Japanese occupation!

Zipper. Mailfist. Broadsword.

PRIMARILY THE MALAYAN PENINSULA NEEDED TO BE RECAPTURED AS SOON AS POSSIBLE FOR FINANCIAL REASONS? THAT FLOW OF TIN AND RUBBER ESSENTIAL CREATING A FAVORABLE CASH FLOW ESSENTIAL TO THE BRITISH EMPIRE.

"The United States government opposed conducting military operations to liberate Malaya and Singapore on the grounds that the shipping and other resources used in the campaign would reduce those available for the planned invasion of Japan, Operation Downfall. However, the British government believed that it was necessary to liberate Singapore as early as possible on both military and political grounds."

After the dropping of the atomic bombs and Japanese surrender, Zipper, Mailfist and Broadsword not needed. But it could have been!
