Dogger Bank.

This is coolbert:

Thanks to the tip from Harry we have some info on the Russian surface warships now active in the English channel

"Russian warships that were cruising in the English Channel on the pretext of plotting the migration of fishing grounds as they moved . . . More than likely they were ENG (Electronic Network Gathering) ships checking on British radio, radar etc. defenses.  A small group of Royal Navy ships were shadowing them"

And my instantaneous response was the Dogger Bank Incident from over one hundred years ago, the British and Russians in confrontation unanticipated and most disastrous.

"The Dogger Bank incident (also known as the North Sea Incident, the Russian Outrage or the Incident of Hull) occurred on the night of 21/22 October 1904, when the Russian Baltic Fleet mistook some British trawlers in the Dogger Bank area of the North Sea for an Imperial Japanese Navy force and fired on them. Russian warships also fired on each other in the chaos of the melée."

Russian warships in the North Sea thinking they were under attack BY JAPANESE TORPEDO BOATS FIRING AWAY IN AN INDISCRIMINATE MANNER AT WHAT TURNED OUT TO BE BRITISH FISHING VESSELS!!

Even worse perhaps the marksmanship of the Russian sailors unbelievably poor, one Russian warship firing over five hundred rounds with all shots missing the target!!

This was the Russian naval contingent en route to Tsushima and obliteration! The modern Russian is not so incompetent, skittish and trigger happy? We hope so!
